Any recommendations for someone who received two offers nearly simultaneously one being remote, the other being very hybrid and in a good location. The hybrid one pays about 30 K more though I would have more stock with the remote one. Both are publicly traded, fairly good sized companies.

Remote, easily.

like

No commute, not much difference in pay once you factor in stock. Remote is rare these days.

like

If remote gives more stock, and is public, that’s basically as good as cash. So, the comp is basically a wash. Does hybrid vs remote matter to you? Also, surely the jobs and the companies aren’t identical…

like

One is most product focused (hybrid) and the other commercial contract focused. Both public companies but the hybrid company is doing a lot better. Hybrid actually gives more stock but 1 more year for it to fully vest.

I hate commuting, so I would easily take the remote.

What would be the threshold you would draw the line when it comes to the gap in pay?

How much do you hate/love going into the office? What's the total comp comparison look like? $30k difference for total comp?

I'd probably take the remote if I was fine with the money.

like

Did you try negotiating?

In my mind the remote plus $30k would be the best

After 5 years as an AE / Sales Manager, what are the next possible career paths?

I love sales and wish I could stay as an individual contributor, but I feel like I am not getting anywhere with the salary i want, and the job itself I feel isn't using all of my potential/skillets (plus I'd like to learn and put into practice more).

So I'm really keen to hear from others what steps they took in their career to get into roles they love doing now but still within the sales side of an organisation.

Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. Hello, hoping for some input on how to time a job change. At a startup - we are doing well now but unless we have complete turnover in management I don’t think we have a bright future post-COVID. I could coast here 1-2 years before having to look. I’ve been here for a little under a year. This is my second in house job after 10 years at the same firm. The market is hot now, probably won’t be in 1-2 years and I am getting interest for good roles. OTOH I don’t want to look like a job hopper.

For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? Or are you getting outside counsel to do it?

How far do you require depts be with negotiating commercial contract terms before your legal review? I’m talking routine low value and risk contracts (e.g., vendor services), where Legal terms won’t kill the deal. My clients blindly forward contracts. I say “are you sure this term is ok?” And often get “no.” They’re surprised because they never read them. Checking the temp to see what others experience, what might be normal. I feel contract training in my clients’ future...
