Not a recruiter. But had a similar situation, it’s just highly unprofessional and I would say don’t have hopes especially if it’s the first round. If it was me, I would consider it a no. However if it’s the last round hold tight, there might be some formalities, approvals etc needed.
I definitely agree. For us we have implications regarding doing things but if they don’t just respond back it’s okay. It’s messed up
It’s not an answer I like, but it’s just something that kind of happens a lot now. I had an interview almost 3 weeks ago and didn’t hear anything back, even though they told me what the next steps would be.
Lack of professionalism is the answer, unfortunately. The job market is in the employer's favor so there is no need for them to waste time on basic human decency things like contacting you back. Ghosting is a normal part of the job hunting process now.
So unfortunate
