It’s all fake. Even when they are nice it’s only cause you did something for them. They all will throw you under the bus to save themselves when it hits the fan. Don’t think for a second any of these people are truly your friends
This is absolutely true of clients, and sure,
of agency folks too. I’ve seen a client congratulate someone on their new baby and personally text and call them about it, then have them fired 7 months later. Most clients are insecure, anxious, and driven by fear. Thats a dangerous combo - they are NOT your friends.
The “nice” agency relationship thing always feels a little forced—sometimes it’s hard to tell where real appreciation ends and management speak begins. It can make it tough to know who to trust, so your skepticism is completely understood. I thankfully have a super genuine team and don't feel this way now but I did in every other agency I worked in.

I’m not sure of exactly what you’re referring to tbh. I think most people are decent, regular people. Every once in a while you get a career ladder climbing snake that politics aggressively, but I’ve found that to be less common.
Management (group director up) tends to be awful though. People are just bodies to be thrown at problems until the problem goes away with little humanity beyond that. Their “appreciation” and “support” always ring incredibly hollow. All they care about is if the client is happy and if their P&L looks good.

Ah the old, “people are our most valuable asset” line usually reserved for town halls. Obviously referring purely to how they bill rather than how they are treated.
