Pro
I don’t live there now, but I did for over 10 years earlier in career. Now I have moved back to my home state and live in Minneapolis.
Pros:
-nice, predictable weather all year long
-proximity to ocean (we lived within 1 mile of beach)
-relatively easy lifestyle, if compared to LA
-lots of single people live there. We made many friends and still have some of them.
-lots of those people are “transient”- moving in from another state. Lots of New Yorkers, for example, if you like that. (Met my husband there, he is from NY)
-always lots to do. Great weekend and day trips to many places.
Cons:
-many of the pros can also be turned into cons
-high COL
-traffic is always bad (this could be comparative, I know Chicago is also bad)
-if you like 4 seasons, you will miss it. Being “nice” weather all the time gets boring. I hated it at Christmastime, for example.
-people are transient- they come & go always (you might have a friend from another state and then they move the next week)
-house prices have really jumped. Good luck getting anything decent.
-business and career-wise, generally San Diego has small branch offices and not HQs. It’s not the best place to be for your career.
Overall, it really depends on what you are looking for. I moved there single, ended up meeting my now-husband there. We were both from other states. We lived there for over 10 years. Tons to do as a single or couple. It was never a place that I wanted to live in forever.
We moved away when the kids got into school. The school systems there just aren’t very good. It was a GREAT family move for us to get out of there. So, it all really depends on where you are in your life and what you want out of it.
Lmao every damn year. I went to SD in February to escape the cold and all I could think about was moving.
I moved to San Diego after living in Pitts, Detroit for a few years . Best move ever
I’ve been living here for 6 years, best city I’ve lived in by far - and I’ve travelled a lot (originally from Europe). I don’t agree with the traffic comment, I think it’s only bad on the i5 during peak hours, and even then it’s not that bad.
Life is easy down here 🙂
Fair enough. @op make sure you don’t live up north and work downtown or vice versa, or don’t commute at peak hours, and you’ll be fine 🤙
Pros: it’s awesome and also nude beaches
Cons: sometimes people follow you in drones if you’re naked in public
