I’m born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Went to college on NYC and have been working there for over 30 years. The city was a great place but it isn’t anymore. Extremely expensive, dirty and full of homeless and crime. The current mayor and past mayor destroyed NYC.
Does the homeless keep to themselves? I would be working and living in Manhattan area. Is the area safe?
Are you making 2x more cash comp minimum? Otherwise, your quality of life will suffer.
Nyc is great, have lived here 13 years and moved from Kansas. $250k in Texas is probably like $450k in NYC.
All depends on what you enjoy / want to do.
2x? Seriously? I would give up my car and walk/bike or use the subway to get to places. Would that help with the cost?

My buddy made the move from TX to NYC and quality of life went way down in his opinion. I say if you are young it's worth the experience from both a personal adventure standpoint and a resume builder. I spent 7 years in NYC and just moved out myself
Took me two years to get used to it and make enough money to be able to live the way I wanted. I'm glad I had the experience tbh but it was super lonely and stressful at first
What he ^ said. If you are young, it’s worth it. But it really depends on what your goals are.
I’m 27. I work in NYC but live in Long Island. Couldn’t imagine myself living in the city. If anything I’d live in Jersey if I wanted to live closer
