Anyone in an advanced technical IC type of position here? I've been stuck in BI/data engineer positions the past few years with half technical / half managerial roles without ever having anyone to report to me. I feel like I'm not advancing in any particular skillset and am getting tired of the managerial type of work so I wanna explore the technical track. Anyone have experience or insight they would be willing to share?

Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. Aside from the cost of it, I like my program, and the fact that I’m now connected to an incredible alumni network. And not gonna lie, I like the clout. Thoughts?

Thoughts on Prosci or SHRM-SCP certification? Which would be considered more valuable or highly regarded? Currently focused on Change Management but have a HR background (industry experience / area of study in college).

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Just got a verbal offer for experienced analyst position at a middle market investment bank in Chicago. What should I expect/negotiate for in terms of salary and bonus?

Left b4 consulting for f500 industry (pharma). Much of what was promised was blatantly false or hasn’t panned out. However, the pay (around 300k) and WLB are real. And work is somewhat interesting - just isn’t what i signed up for, moves at a glacial pace and i have doubts about the potential of much of what my team is doing.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

I am asked during this RE analyst interview to build a real estate model from scratch. My background is commercial banking and I am used to analyzing real estate deals from the lender side not the developer. The interviewer is generous I must say he’s giving me a few days to complete. However this model is for a ground up multifamily development. I have no prior experience building one. I can find models online but all very complexe to reproduce. How would you handle?
