Congrats! How many yoe did you have in fdd for the role?
Longer life cycle but less reps and more in depth into accounting minutia post deal as opposed to more deal reps and exposure to negotiations, deal mechanisms, and understanding the why of the transaction as it happens in real time. You are also working with bankers so the networking aspect alone should outperform AAS as that is really what it comes down to. Starting at an analyst level most likely so it’s easier to get foot in door, more examples to talk about / easier story for “why IB?”, and then any CPA can learn to model over a weekend and a monkey can make edits to a PowerPoint deck.
Salary is standard and fixed based on level. Should expect >=$100k. Bonus is discretionary and will vary based off of performance of both parties. Expect 80-100% bonus in a year like this one, which might be prorated based on months worked in the FY.
Bonus is usually not quoted in your offer letter. But expect 70-100% as an analyst. Base salary, as pwc 1 mentioned, should be standard and no room for negotiation. Sign on bonus is the only one you can negotiate, try to use sth like “I’m giving up X amount of bonus from PwC since I’m leaving mid year”
I too received a verbal offer and then it fell through. First step, get the paper. Then worry about subsequent events.
Why did it fall through?
