Hey, I have 4 YOE and currently a manager at PwC and have been managing teams for a little over a year now. My role mainly consists of leading teams of engineers deliver MVPs to our clients.
If I wanted to exit to Google or Facebook (Meta) what role would align for me? I was looking at engineering manager roles but unsure if that’s too senior for me.
Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

I've had some friends go to Nike. Despite the negative press recently they love/loved it. One of my friends was a women's wear brand manger. Good travel opportunities and always seemed to be at cool sporting events (e.g. Stanley Cup, Knicks, Lakers).
It sounds like you’re pretty excited about the role and the company themselves. The pay sounds pretty good to me, how much experience do you have and how much are you currently making? I think though since the pay is solid, if you’re legitimately excited about the role and the company, you should go for it! Congrats!
Whilst studying my UG, I worked at a world leading boutique store that dealt exclusively with LVMH in the region. The only piece of advice I would have for you is that the culture there is pretty shocking. Really snobby and ruthless (as you would expect). Back office functions might be better though!
And yaaaaas - calling HR again today to ask about discount - thanks for the reminder @BCG1!
I’m about to leave for Nike
I’d take it, big brand and you could always switch after a year! Mind me asking, what experience did you have to get it? Currently a 1st year doing analytics work and would kill to be in consumer industry
Director isn't consistent in terms of responsibility across firms.
What is your core function? Need advice:p
What’s your POV on Corporate Strategy vs Marketing as exit to luxury/retail industry?
@Op, have you managed people before? Seems like you’re going from individual contributor to people manager now. Also what’s the split for pay between base and bonus?
Congrats! I’m very much looking to make a similar move. How did you get to the role- referral? What’s your background? I agree marketing > corp strat. One consideration would be how much « teeth » the digital role has- e.g. with a beauty brand that has existing online sales you’ll be challenged and able to do much more than you would with another product line or brand that has limited online sales (e.g. alcohol). That said, I’d still take the role!
Take it. $225K all in as an SC is great and strategy is usually a steering stone to a p&l.
Not an offer but selling on amazon, did 400k in sales last year and this year closing on 1.5m...very easy to do for half the time y’all spend working on whatever y’all do
What do analytics and strategy projects usually entail? Feel free to be vague, just trying to see what I need to skill up on and what projects I have to start targeting ;)
Go for it OP!!!! You can always come back to the drudgery that’s consulting if you don’t like it. Congratulations; it sounds like a bomb role
@A1 a recruiter reached out to me through LinkedIn. I get a sense that marketing department in industry increasingly needs talent with strong analytical background (consultants, MBAs) - if that’s what you are open to, there is enough demand there 💪
@OP you are goals!!! What’s your background/prof exp?!
@EY3 congrats! I indeed love Nike’s boldness from its newest campaign. Whats your role there?
Offer sounds pretty legit, as well as the director title. Assume its a serious comp bump over your current?
What location are you in? Tier 1 city?
advisory associate 1 - please share more details?
Sounds amazing! Congrats!
