Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

But you’re working from home. 9-630p is doable. Just put on Netflix in the background have a nice lunch, enjoy yourself.
Exactly. It’s not going to be much better anywhere else. Maybe look for a new team?
To your question, yes, 5 months will look bad for switching to a new company. But you should also know that c1 is HUGE and makes it incredibly easy to switch to different parts of the org. And there’s a big focus on WLB in the majority of teams.
I would encourage you to transfer to a different part of the org. I’m in product in Card, and I work 8:30-5 every day. Great leadership too.
As far as remote flexibility, I would recommend asking your recruiter. Some roles want you to be near an office for whenever we go back to hybrid work. Some roles have flexibility to be permanently remote.
Also— not saying i would 100% recommend this, but I know current employees at capital one who have permanently moved away from an office. Their idea is that they will negotiate for full remote when/if we are ever called back to the office. Or, if that negotiation fails, then they would just switch to a full remote job.
I think if you’re a very strong performer (which I think you would be with your MBB background) you would have a great shot at negotiating for a full remote role after you join, if you were ever called in. Alternatively, some teams at c1 are full remote too, so you could switch to a new team.
Capital One has gotten that bad? Is bad wlb like 9-7? Assume you’re not a BA or DA cause their hours felt pretty good back when I worked there
Just move to be a DA they use to leave at 5 and 4:30, I should’ve just done that instead of move to consulting back in the day
Omg did you join the card service line? I have a Power Day interview tomorrow
Nope not service. Good luck!! A lot of this is team dependent
Wait but can someone answer the original question 😂
You can certainly leave if u want to. If you have enough yoe, you might not even have trouble finding your next gig
I’m going through interview process w similar YOE and role. May I ask what the range of TC is?
SC1, I would encourage you to check out the thousands of reviews on glassdoor over 1 review on fishbowl. Same thing re: compensation. The culture/WLB is great on the majority of teams, but no- not EVERY team.
You can apply for a new role after six months. Just be aware your people manager will know you applied. The strategy is to reach out to hiring managers for jobs that interest you to learn about the role to confirm your interest before applying. Are people scheduling meetings past core hours? Are they in a different time zone? Do you have to work that late to get your work done? Everyone seems to be short staffed right now
Short staffed but for the most part people are good about keeping meetings to core hours. I’ve been working extended hours to keep up though
What’s your role and your YOE?
Product Manager with 5 YOE
Stayed at my first gig for 2 years and me most recent one for 3
