Deloitte audit Vs. Grant Thornton Tax. I have an offer from Grant Thornton and From Deloitte as an Intern this summer. Deloitte is the bigger name and pays a bit better but Grant Thronton has way nicer people and known to have a way better cultre and work environment. What should I do? Where should I go?Deloitte Grant Thornton

Would you be able to expand on this? I was originally looking at big 4 audit for the exit opportunities. Are the exit opportunities limited or are you overworked?
RU1, the exit opportunities of B4 audit are way overstated during the recruiting process. While it may be true that accounting is a great background to have, you absolutely do not have to get auditing experience in order to "crystallize" your accounting knowledge so that you can "propel" your career and "write your own ticket." Also, you'll likely have to go get a masters/150 hours just to enter the firm at the entry level--that's a large price to pay for a salary that isn't that great.

OP, students can't DM
Tell us how you really feel. LOL
I am so sorry to hear this! But thank you for your honesty.
LOL, felt this 100%. Can only remember slivers of who I was before all of this started. Can't even remember what happiness feels like.
There’s more to life than this! I’m looking to pivot after 15 years of Big 4 life to become a career / personal development coach to help young professionals going through how you may be feeling (and warn them in advance). Feel free to send me a DM if interested or to commiserate together 😅
Hey, even though this is grim I admire your ability to step up and warn people of the realities they might experience. For that, you are one of the brave ones.
LOL this is so real. Although it seems cynical, it's nice to make sure people know both sides of the role.
Appreciate the honesty! But that salary can't be too painful, right?
The salary is good if you’re willing to slog it out for 10 years, or use Big 4 as a stepping stone to industry. But it comes at a cost to your physical, mental and emotional health.. that’s a high price to pay
Can you please explain further? I know a lot of people who want to start their career in B4.
Why do they want to start their career in B4? Is it as stepping stone to other careers? I would recommend that students do through research and go through a list of all industries, companies, firms, jobs, career paths, to see what’s out there and use B4 as a fall back if they don’t get their first choice. B4 is a bit of a dead end job.
If students want to do consulting, they should go into MBB.
If law, magic circle.
If finance, go into investment banking.
If accounting or tax, please reconsider these career choices. If you’re deadset on becoming a CFO then maybe B4 but seriously there are more fulfilling careers out there.
Seriously, don’t go into B4 unless you’re out of options. Little pay, no fulfilment, no WLB. I hope everyone finds a more rewarding and enriching career than B4.
