At Amazon, what is the difference between a Program Manager and Technical Program Manager? It looks like the Technical one gets paid about 25% more but not sure what roles/responsibilities they do differently. Amazon
Also how technical a background does someone need for a Technical Program Manager role?

I think both statements are true. And you can't unlock each exam until you watch all the required videos in that module, so the setup does require one to absorb the information. Retention is another matter, but I believe most people willing to pay $1299 for a credential really want the information.
I'm comfortable saying that this credential certifies that the holder has been exposed to the full compliment of Product Marketing fundamentals, both theoretical (the why) and methodological (the how). And it come with lifetime access to the videos, templates (very helpful) and slide decks used to train you, which I think will come in very handy from time to time.
I second this!
You think the content is valuable though? I have some work training budget that I was thinking of using on this just to expand my knowledge.
Yes, I do think the curriculum and the delivery is solid, and you get lifetime access to the videos, slide decks, templates, and other materials. It's good training, just a crappy assessment.
I’ve been on the fence about doing the certification. The access to resources makes it seem worthwhile though. Do you think the outside opinion is that anyone can get this certification if they just pay the $, or do you think it can help someone get a foot in the door anyway?
Imo the access to resources is nice - cert def helps IMO. Best resource tho is the slack group. Great for see first hear first PMM roles and you can usually chat directly with the hiring manager via slack.
