First year associates posting pictures of their timesheets on their IG story showing they billed 300-500 hours in March at their lockstep big law firms right after bragging on their stories about the $12k pretax covid bonus that they’re getting this year. Is this... impressive? asking for pity? pathetic? other? Has this always been a thing or do I just see it now bc I’m also a first year associate...

Anybody know Milbank’s paternity leave policy (how many weeks)? Also, does anyone know how they deal l with requests for one to two year stints overseas at their London or German office? My wife may have an opportunity to work at her company’s London or Frankfurt office for a year or two in about 2 years time.

Do you reply to client emails saying thank you? If so, what do you say?

“You’re welcome” sounds too formal.

“No problem” sounds too informal.

“Anytime” sounds like an invitation to get requests all weekend and all night.

“My pleasure” is clearly a lie when it comes to most legal work.

At what point did you start using a financial advisor?

I just paid off my student loans (!!!) and literally put every spare dime towards them. Now that I don't have that payment, I'm trying to build back my safety net (currently only have 15K).

Since it's called "wealth management", I feel like I should build some actual wealth first haha. But I'm not sure how much I should save first.

So when did you first seek out an advisor? I'm a 3rd year, late 20s, single, no kids, so no other costs.

I realized recently that I can turn my “super associate” persona at any time. I had it off during covid when my kids needed me and got a bad review. So now it’s back on. I’m responding to midnight emails (and daytime ones in under 20 minutes) and getting work done the same morning. I’m spending countless hours doing edits over edits. I actually don’t like super associate. Why do people live like this 24/7?!? 🤔
