I left small law for biglaw and couldn’t agree more. Lots of smaller and mid smaller firms have zero or less resources, training, and benefits.
Another small -> big law transplant and I also agree. In a much better environment now with more pay. Win, win.
As someone who lateraled from a midsize to a larger firm, I fully support this post. At the midsize firm I was fed a lie of “work life balance” to justify the significant pay cut. I left after two years, went to a national firm, and work the same hours for significantly more money!
Are we from the same place lol
Ditto. Midsize firms with interesting work run like big law firms with half the pay!
Do we work at the same midsize firm lol

Go back! It can be done, I did it and so have lots of people on this app. But thanks for the PSA, this cannot be said enough.

I meant it’s an announcement in service of the public that people should be very careful about going to a smaller firm in search of better lifestyle, since most of the time it’s a lie and you’ll end up working just as hard for way less money.

I’ve been in both, and I actually enjoyed my smaller firm. We got paid like 90-95% of market (including bonus) and some people literally billed 1000 hours a year. You have to just choose wisely.

I left the firm. Didn’t realize how good I had it until afterwards
