Anyone with experience on transitioning a solo practice into a virtual office/remote? This is where we're headed and wanted some tips and/or things to look out for.

The unending cycle is for real. Reached my LeanFIRE number 2 months ago, yet I don’t feel satisfied. Still reaching for the stars… when will this human desire end?

My last therapist keeps coming up in my mind. I left her when I moved to a new area before COVID dug in and frankly it felt like leaving a girlfriend. She also disclosed in the final session that she was a member of AA and knew several of the people I occasionally discussed from the rooms. Her knowledge of the program certainly built trust with me early on, but it has been two years. I discussed it with my current therapist but she’s still in there. Any advice?

I feel left out in my firm. How do I make 'friends' with my colleagues? I've been here for a year. I am naturally not a very out going person, was never 'cool' and I struggle to speak in group situations / make engaging conversation with higher ups. It is an important trait to have in this job and I just don't know how to do this. It makes me very upset - I even sought therapy but wasn't useful. Anyone know a good data resource? I’m struggling with an assignment for grad school about collecting and analyzing data. I need to identify an educational problem relevant to my educational setting (ECE-8th music at an urban public school) and analyze existing data that is relevant to the problem in order to draw conclusions. I’m finding great research papers, but not a lot of data I can analyze. TIA

Do you still implement reference checks (on top of background checks)? I’m not convinced of the value add to the selection process and it takes a lot of time and resources

I have a wee crush on one of the partners in my firm and I thought he liked me too, but neither of us did anything about it (which is entirely appropriate). That was all pre-Rona. Anyone have recs for best tax law training resources?

I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. I want convert every lead I can. Does anyone have tips, books, cle’s or studied this topic?

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?
