I loved it. It was a bigger change than I was expecting, but the flexibility and ownership suited me a lot better than the corporate world has. I'd love to join an early-stage startup again when the market is more stable.
I started in a startup and was lucky to be there while it scaled. I left before they exit and walked away with unvested equity. But my next two jobs were with fortune 500s. The first job was awesome, then switch to my current role and it’s not very rewarding. I like the chaos of the startup life and being close the customers.
If you’re nervous to take the leap I recommend you do what I’m trying. I’m building my own product with a few friends in my free time. Once we’re on a trajectory to replace our salaries we’ll make the switch.
If you don’t have that, then find some local startups and offer your talents in an advisory or contracting capacity to test the waters.
Yes, I have been with the same F300 company for almost 8 years and I’m ready for a new challenge but I feel like I am not cut for a startup. I like my current work-life balance.

I’m not sure if I’m following “know the should.” Does that mean the start-up is yours? I’m at a Fortune 100. It doesn’t mean it’s a safe space. Every place and situation comes with their own risks. I was braver when I was younger. I also hate looking back at some things and wondering what if.
