Applied to a role, got rejected within 3 hours. No call, no email from a human, just an automated “not selected” message. Why even bother asking for a cover letter? I assume this is just me not meeting some ATS requirements, but it's really disheartening to spend a bunch of time on these applications when this is how they treat applicants.

That's just the way it goes these days. The process of job searching has been broken for a while, and it seems like now everything is just paused anyway. So the rejections get fired off automatically. Seems like the word of the year will be "uncertainty," and that's all you hear when people talk business or the economy. Until businesses can plan around the trade war no one wants to take on any extra labor costs.

My secret is never spending time on them. I always submit the same résumé and cover letter, no matter the job. I keep it generic and all about me, not the employer. It's easier to personalize that way. Plus if I get rejected, at least it didn't take a bunch of time.

This is the way

It’s frustrating, but automation is the norm now. Focus on roles where you have a referral or inside contact.

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

When to sell at a loss?

I’m 26 and have a fair chunk of my NW tied to Cloudflare - a tech stock that I believe has the opportunity to 3x and become a $100b+ company over the long term. Similarly, I have a lot in cloud computing etf - WCLD.

Given short term rotation out of growth stocks, I’m confused on what to do. I think we still have some time before growth stocks bottom out, but do I sell?

I would consider myself a “long only” investor, but am unsure what to do given my lack of diversif
