Deloitte bans travel and EY is still sending out half assed recommendations, ie. only travel if client critical 🤕

My supervisor was pregnant and we were having transition meetings this week for her maternity leave. She had her baby a month early this past weekend. I am screwed.

I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.

Didn’t even score an interview for a role at a startup I applied for (would’ve been 30%+ pay cut too) lol at this rate, I’m stuck in finance forever

If you get delayed while at client site during a connection and staying overnight, do you expense that hotel? I used points last time and today’s weather looks awful.

Thoughts on hitting utilization targets? Our Consultant target is 90% but PTO available accounts for 10% of the year and is not subtracted from the available hours pool of the equation 😪

Ok rich or going to be rich fishes. I need advice on a 9-5 job vs freelance. My partner is the primary earner makes 400k all in including bonuses. Has a pretty steady job. Puts in 50-60 hrs a week. I earn 145k all in at steady 9-5 job. My job is less demanding. Probably 20/30 hrs a week. My question is if I should go freelance and using his benefits open an LLC. I might earn half the ant but can write off some tax stuff and free up time to put my hands on other things like real estate etc. cont

How much do you think is an acceptable percentage of your salary to spend on rent? I hear 30% of gross salary but that equals 54% of my take home salary when you factor in 401k, ESPP, healthcare, dental, FSA etc. What are your thoughts?
