I think many degrees are overrated. However since most jobs won’t hire you without one they are still necessary.
Although some people may dispute this, college degrees are not in any way overrated. My degree earned me a place at my current job, and my skills afterward earned me all the three promotions I have gotten. I believe that without the degree, I wouldn't have had a platform to show what I am capable of in the first place.
I had the same experience
I got an MBA from University of Maryland Global Campus for $25k. It has undoubtedly catapulted me into the role I’m in now at JPMC. It’s a skill set I draw on every day. Please check your facts again. Making blanket statements like all MBA programs are expensive is simply not true. Be resourceful and do some research first.
I don’t have an MBA but want to echo this - I think the MBA teaches a lot of soft skills and helps with EQ!
Employers need to concentrate on accomplishments rather than degrees and grades. There are many people who rest in their laurels because they went to a particular school. There are no shortcuts to real work.

They are not overrated in the sense that many people have started to doubt their need in recent times. Yes, you can make it without a degree but the benefit you gain from getting one is undeniable.
College degrees are a basic requirement to most corporate jobs so why would they be overrated? It gets you a seat at the table. MBA's on the other hand are a different story. Just depends on what you're going for.
If I’m being candid, I do think my college degree might be overrated. I’m incredibly grateful for the network but the actual knowledge, I could have gotten from Wikipedia
