are December interviews more chill or more chaotic I had one last year where the manager wore a Christmas jumper and another where the panel looked like they wanted to go home ... do moods affect decisions this month or am I imagining it?

It's not moods as much as schedules IMO. I've never had good luck finding work during the winter. Things seem to slow to a crawl as soon as Thanksgiving rolls around.

I have noticed the same slowdown every December. I try not to read too much into it because schedules and approvals seem to stall everywhere. I treat winter interviews as patience tests rather than verdicts on fit.

There is a lot more going on this month. Whether it’s holiday cheer or a lack of motivation, that is hard to say.

I agree there is a lot of background noise this month. I think decisions are influenced more by timing and distraction than mood. I remind myself that an interview in December is rarely the full story.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. I am also responsible for sending out updates tracking new hires and upcoming leavers (aka I would be on this list if i decide to leave). If I am looking to leave my company, considering all of these things, how do I do it in the least awkward, most professional way possible? I want to put in at least a two week notice, but will continuing my work after that be weird?
