HR M&A, does anybody know what type of work this role entails? Within it there's a Strategy, DD, and Integration team. Thanks!

Are you asking what HR folks do in a M&A role? I was an HRBP but did M&A and we evaluated if a company should be purchased. Considered ROI, people strategy throughout the acquisition process, considerations such as international growth, impacts to the business, etc. for example, if we were acquiring a company internationally, do we have entities in those countries, what will it take to stand up entities, what do we need to prepare from a organizational standpoint (reorg, payroll, policies/procedures, alignment to current org—including remaps, comp, etc.) project management of acquisition, etc. culture shift, training, etc. Is that what you are looking for?

I led M&A team for HR for years and agree with all that’s said. That encompasses the the due diligence phase. Once the deal is signed and there’s a closing date the focus shifts to onboarding—particularly cultural onboarding and communications. That’s a gross simplification, but basically getting all the internal processes set and making sure you have change champions from the acquired company and the legacy company to field questions and promote good will. HR M&A is the best! It opened doors for me that I never knew were there!

Hello everyone! New fish here in this fishbowl. I have a question concerning empowering and developing the team.

Is it possible to empower the team and delegate certain tasks and then risk to be perceived as “irrelevant” to the superiors (because the team is doing the legwork)? Is this an unfounded fear? Is it a real risk? And if it is a real risk, how can I manage it?

Advice for Deloitte USI consultant ……If short term goal is to work for a few years in the US and then move back to India, what is the recommended approach-
1. MS/MBA in US and look for a Human Capital role (will need to spend $$ but will ensure higher designation and more options)
2. Stay at USI and wait for a project opportunity in US (lower probability of selection for H1B, move with same designation)
