Why do we give awards to students for ideas that will never happen/are ridiculous? Netflix will never make an ad unit on their app, that would sell you Burger King burgers when burgers appear in movies or shows. That's just stupid. How did this win? What am I missing?

Love my Traeger, pellets are super easy to use
Got one recently (timed with the birth of my daughter and start of paternity leave.) It’s super intuitive and makes getting into smoking easier. I’ve got a Weber gas grill and have competed on traditional charcoal bbq smokers. A few thoughts: it’s not without work (gotta clean after every cook to avoid fires and issues,) I still find use for my gas grill either stand-alone or in tandem with the traeger so while it can replace a grill (if you get one or the top line models), I’d recommend not pushing that today, and finally it’s a great ritual/hobby thing so go for it. On the price, I’d do 50% discount cause you can get ya decent new model for 800ish
I just got an Ironwood 650 and so far I love it, the ability to track grill and probe temps, pellet %, and control the grill from my phone is incredible. The “super smoke” option is also great and the recirculated smoke from the ironwood and some other models gives a great smoke ring. Smoked salmon, ribs, brisket, sparchcocked whole chicken…I’m an addict and fanboy now.

Interesting. So in your view would it replace my grill snd smoker? Both are fine but I’m not overwhelmed by them.
And the money question: what is the bro code on how much to offer him for it? The model he has retails for $800. The money isn’t a big deal to either of us but I feel the unwritten rule on used stuff is half, so in this case $400. Am I off base?
Apparently he just wants to give it to me for nothing (I haven’t talked to him about it yet but the wives have been chatting). I will offer some cash, but if he won’t accept I’ll have to just do a nice bottle and round of golf or something.
I feel like people online say that it’s changed their life for the better. I just got one and really like it but it has its drawbacks.
