Are you hosting a wedding welcome event? If so, what are your plans? For context, over half of our guests are out of town, so we’re definitely having one, but I have no idea where to start! Tips appreciated🤗

I went to a wedding once where everyone just met up at a large brewery. Everyone bought their own drinks, so it didn’t cost the bride and groom anything. I plan to do something similar.

like

We hosted at a local brewery that let us bring in our own food. $1500 for the space plus all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks included in that amount, then another $1500 for big trays of food from our favorite local spot. Local family and friends brought cookies and other desserts potluck style. We fed over 100 this way! And in a HCOL city, too. Highly recommend asking at breweries or similar spots that don’t specialize in wedding things.

We had a informal meet up at the hotel pool (approx 90% of guests stayed there). Guests could order food or drinks from the pool bar. We did it in the afternoon, before the rehearsal.

Family was pushing us to pay for drinks and bites at the hotel bar after our rehearsal dinner for all guests. We didn’t want an event to start at 10pm the night before our wedding or spend thousands of dollars to meet the minimum for the venue.

I’m hosting a welcome event at a fancy pizzeria. We’re serving apps, pizza, and alcohol. Open to everyone who will be in town. Similarly to you, approx half are coming from out of town. It’ll run us approx $7k total (we think).

We have a pool so had a pool party at our home. We served tacos and beer and just had an amazing afternoon. With catering and some extra table / chair rentals it was $3k.

like

Having everyone at our house with a taco truck and drinks. Trying to keep it chill, doing it the night before our wedding instead of a rehearsal dinner.

We are doing our rehearsal dinner at a beer garden and are opening it up to all guests after dinner as a welcome reception with apps and drinks
