Malcolm Gladwell’s theory that it takes about 10,000 hours to become truly proficient at something. It seems to be very true of most creative skills

Early in my career (about 10 years ago) I would be accurate with my timesheets so I would have multiple weeks where I would only bill maybe 20 or 30 hours.

My manager then sat me down and said I needed to be billing 40 hours and I should go back and “rethink” to make sure I didn’t spend 40 hours billable.

I’ve never billed less than 40 hours since… even when I had a full two weeks of zero work.

The point is not to lie on your timesheets, the point is to invest more time into the clients work so that you’re filling the hours you’re assigned. If you don’t fill the hours you’re assigned you’re leaving money on the table, and you’re also probably not doing your best work.

You bill for hours WORKED (client and admin work).. and hours they want you AVAILABLE. if you agree to 40hrs.. you ALWAYS bill 40hrs

I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice
