How long do you wait on a planned call for a Director or MD to join? I've noticed they tend to be at least 5 mins late but mostly almost 10. Please respect my time if I respect yours!!

I recently joined a small-sized product based company.I have not been able to get along with my manager. He does not give me full information on assigned tasks and expects me to follow his order to the letter like in a military. When I ask him doubts he either scolds me or laughs at me like I am dumb. Am I particularly uptight, or is writing meant to be done alone, without a partner talking to you? With past partners, we chat through script notes and then I go off to execute. Current partner likes to sit and chat as I write. To me, writing is crafting a conversation. So I can’t talk to you and simultaneously talk to this audience. Of course I can just say “I’m gonna go write.” But since we’re both CD level, I’m like…is this his first rodeo? Maybe other writers are different though.

There’s a senior architect at my firm that’s absolutely toxic as heck but on Fridays, he becomes his alter ego. All like “Happy Friday!” and “you’re very welcome” and “hope you have a fantastic weekend!” No joke, he really is a different person.

I’ll be asking my last job for a letter of recommendation but I’m not sure who to ask. My boss, who is lovely and would write an amazing LOR. Or my boss's boss who would put minimal effort in but it would have more weight.

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

Anyone done DIY attic insulation?

We had a home energy audit done yesterday and the guy said the attic insulation has a whopping R-value of 7 due to age and compression.
