“As a newcomer to Canada, I have worked hard to complete my Level 1 Broker/Adjuster education to fulfill both my career goals and my parents’ dreams. Despite this effort, I am experiencing challenges in securing opportunities in the insurance field. Could you please share your perspective on what specific skills, experiences, or qualifications employers are prioritizing, and how I can better align myself to meet those expectations?”

Third Party Administrators such as Crawford and Sedgwick have offices in Canada. If you are unable to secure a position with an insurance company, those are options. I would also contact a Canadian outside recruiter for help.

Thanks for giving me a path . I will definitely try that .

I’v been in digital marketing for almost 5 years. I want to switch to marketing operations or research, because I find I’m better at and more interested in market research, audience research than keyword research or writing ad copies. I applied for some marketing research and operations roles, but no luck.

I understand I don’t have enough direct experience and platform experience, like Nielsen.

Any advice?

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

I feel like every company lies about “working your way up.” You’re never allowed to blatantly say that you don’t like your position and you’d like to transition to HR or Finance. It’s almost as if once you get in claims, you’re stuck.

If you’re a manager and you see an employee that wants to branch out into a different department, why would you keep them boxed in for 2+ years?

Are there some background mechanics that I’m missing?

I hear a lot of talk about how claims adjusting is a lot of work and very demanding but I think my current position has prepared me for the challenge. What are some good companies I maybe should apply for after getting my license?
