I'm a copywriter and can barely read or put my pants on in the morning
I like to say I have my own style called: ugly illustration hahaha
OP, I can make some pretty cool illustrations but there is not a single second in my life when I don't feel like everyone else is better than me.

Ah I’d worked with Fede. Cool guy.
Nah, you're an art director, not a professional drawer.
.
You are in the business of communicating ideas that are often complex and nuanced. If you can do that in the style of a 3 year old with a sharpie you’re brilliant. If you can’t, practice.
Not if you’re nice on the digital tools!

Not the end of the world. But it’s easy to graduate to 6th grade level as well
Nope I have drawing skills of a 1 year old
Nope. You’re good. Just make sure you know photoshop
I’ve been in the biz 8 years and I honestly could not push a curve to save myself
if you were an illustrator, then *maybe* 😆
but as an art director, no!
You don’t need to be able to do realistic drawings but you should have basic drawing skills because that helps with many other aspects of your job. Like reading and understanding light, how many print ads I have seen that the light source is one way and the shadow is on an opposite direction because the art director decided that flipping an image would work. It also helps with proportion, composition, perspective.
Drawing is basically time. Just do it for half an hour each day and you’ll get better. And it’s also fun and something more useful to rest your mind mid work than doom scrolling.
It’s also another tool you can use to make work better. I envy those who are really good at it.
I can’t draw incredibly good but I have a good notion of anatomy and basic shading.
Next question.
it’s only bad because two year old drawing level is in right now, not three
Drawing is not the end all, be all as an AD. You’re fine.
I’m a copywriter, and I’m still not totally sure when to use a semicolon
