I teach in a super red state and district and often my students do not see the pain of our Central American neighbors and why they seek asylum here. I tied their plight to my mom’s post-WWII and asked them why she was welcomed by our current immigrants are not. It was so powerful. One of my LatinoX students told me thank you for today’s lesson.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

My work gives us points/money for achieving certain activities such as exercising for 180 mins per week. I have my Apple Watch automatically sync with the app that tracks our activities and it works great. Problem is I started using NRC (Nike run Club) app for runs and it interferes with the Workout app on my Apple Watch and it doesn’t get tracked. So can I accept the offer from first company and then if second one also sends an offer then let the first company know I would like to reject? Also i am on H1B visa.
