I’m 1k with United and love United. I think United customer service BLOWS if you don’t have status, but their customer service with status is AMAZING. I’m pretty sure they’re also consistently ranked higher than American by the WSJ on best airlines
Neither. Delta is by far my favorite.
Not on the table, Delta doesn’t even try to compete in Chicago.

Pick the best flight for your schedule and wallet. Status is trash now, have work pick up extra legroom, and just realize airlines suck in the US now.
Americans loyalty program is the worst thing on the planet - go united
Hmmm, interesting. I know they both re-wrote their loyalty programs but I just haven’t sunk the time into analyzing them
Also, the mileage upgrades is way better on United. You can use your miles (if you have a credit card) for upgrades and pay a fee for business upgrades, especially if you are doing international flights.
Welcome to cattle class. I lost my United plat status as well, I have been status holder on both American and United. While I liked the American service slightly better, I returned back to United because their loyalty program is better in my view…especially the ability to use rewards on star alliance network. I also got more upgrades on United as silver / gold / Plat vs equivalent status on American
I lost my status too but my company has airpass with American so I can get into the lounges. They all suck when there is no status though.
I like United. I had 1k, lost with the pandemic. Back to 0. 😢

United is your only option. Every other airline sucks if you’re flying out of ORD.
American if those are my only choices.
United everyday!! Having 1K status with them gets you the best customer service, miles redemption and their alliance with global airlines is the BEST!!
United’s points are worth more when it comes to redemption for flights and upgrades.

I feel your pain man or dudette. My platinum is gone. 😢. On the plus side I sit home and never travel now. 😂. Might date a pilot and try for the non-rev privileges for vacation.
I picked united personally since they’re a travel partner with Chase. Figured I’d pick a combo where I can maximize my points
I like American’s new loyalty program. If you get the AAdvantage Mastercard, you can earn status without flying much.
It isn’t useful if you don’t fly, but it is useful if you only fly a few times per year. I fly for work multiple times per month, but my husband only flies like 3 times per year. Thanks to his AAdvantage Mastercard, he’s going to reach gold level this year. We use the miles earned for our vacations.
