I had a few friends leave teaching. One went into real estate (but her husband was rich so she could afford the switch). Another actually went to work for ixl. And then one went back to school and went into nursing. I’m planning on finding something soon. It’s November and I’m burnt out.
Hi,
Make a list of skills you have and look for careers in that fit your interest. College level teaching, researcher, etc. Also, pray about it.
You can always start videomaking as a side hustle. Being a history nerd myself I know how big the audience for well-produced, interesting history videos is and it is pretty big.

I’m in the same boat. I’m an English teacher in year 10 and I can’t see myself keeping this up for much longer.
History? How about a docent for a historical site or museum?
If you're passionate about preserving and sharing historical artifacts and knowledge, consider a career in museum or library curation. Your expertise in historical research, analysis, and interpretation will be invaluable in managing collections, developing exhibits and conducting educational programs. So many ways to go with it.
Look into the museums in your state for positions. Also at the libraries. There maybe different qualifications needed for libraries depending on your state, but it could be worth going back to school for re-certification if it's really something you want to do the the rest of your career.
What are your other skills?? Hobbies??? Have you applied to museums??? Dig deep into your skills and seek out a new path of choice!! You can do it!!
