The issue is the manager level. Historically it’s a strong no. But now I have seen people done it pretty often. You should just apply. But, I do want to call out trying to lead a team in a function is extremely stressful. I think it’s better to come in as post mba level associate and be an individual contributor for a year first
Easiest when you change firms that don’t do FDD / PMO work. Too much baggage when transferring internally. But harder to get selected.
