Rising Star
I’ve literally never wanted to have a roommate and the first thing I prioritised and treated myself to when I could afford it was to get my own room. Then came my own apartment.
As an introvert, I need my peace and privacy.
I ruined with my best friend from ages 25-31.
From 25-29 it was great. I saved a bunch of money, I had a friend to explore the city with, and I was traveling every week anyways.
When covid hit, things became tougher. I didn't need a roommate financially but I was still trying to get things aligned so I could buy an apartment. I could afford much nicer stuff than him, so that became a point of contention. Dating with a roommate became less acceptable - girls in their 30s aren't interested in guys with roommates. We were around each other ALL the time - it's tough to enjoy your living room when there's someone else there 24/7. Eventually by the end I think we were mutually done with the whole having a roommate thing.
It was fun, I don't regret moving out sooner or later, but I'll never do that again.
28 now and even at 27 wish I had a single.
to clarify living alone now wish I had earlier..

Never had a roommate since 18 -- from someone extremely introverted

A lot of factors determine where I’m your 20’s you need to stop, but as a good rule or thumb well before you enter your 30’s.

After college
I lasted until early 30s, at which point I just couldn't do it anymore. I was the landlord though. Never had any issues dating like mentioned in others' posts.
4, when my brother was born, I was so upset
my parents moved me to the other side of the room so crib could be closer to the door.
24 - I’m ready now but will probably tough it out for a few more years
Occasionally now (31) and I’m married with a kid so… I’m SOL.
I went roommate-free at 23. It was a really fun 2 years post-grad living with friends, but I was excited & very ready to live on my own. Joke’s on me since my partner moved in about 3 months later, then cue the pandemic about 3 months after that
21. After college I was done living with roommates.
Still have one
I realized I was never for it.. never had one until I went to my mba with a friend and regretted it soooo hard

21 for me. My college roommate (former very close friend) had a mental break of sort some and began to act really weird towards me (destroying my belongings, lying, name calling, seeking drama). Thank God we were forced to move out when Covid hit so I didn’t have to deal with her anymore. Haven’t had a roommate since because I’m scared of ending up stuck with another crazy person.
