B4 Audit S3 seeking to get into FDD——non of the B4 is hiring in my location, should I try GT or other MM first? I’m not sure whether it will get harder after my promotion to audit manager and a little bit worried about the exit option of non B4

Definitely worth exploring the MM, but also would expect hiring to pick up in the back half of the year based on current momentum. We’ve been slammed the past few months

Agree with EY1, we've been sold out for the past couple months. Yes, leadership has been upfront that raises this year will be poor due to last year's performance. It also makes no sense to pay bonuses out one week then the next week lay them off, they would have done that by now, which they did for the lower rated performers, as part of the annual cycle.

Get promoted to manager in audit then transfer to fdd as a manager. B4 will be hiring in fdd by year end.

P1, sincerely speaking, the consulting era you were a M in FDD is very different from the world we live today. Agree the intellect capacity matters, but it's not for the average advice is my thought.

Hell if you are that confident and smart, OP won't stay long in accounting.

You are very close to be Manager… think twice for the FDD transition, although work is more interesting, but if you are not in a major market, your mobility/exit is very limited and salary isn’t always very competitive to Audit… it was before the 2021-2023 inflation, now, not so much comp advantage (especially in MM)

I’d move over whenever you can - people been waiting on the market for years at this point. Opportunity to make more money is greater from an FDD standpoint - the work is more interesting (tho still pretty accounting heavy at the end of the day)

I left audit as an S1 3 years ago for MM FDD and it’s been a pretty significant career misstep. Better WLB but the comp has been extremely stagnant

Was the transition to MM FDD hard? I’m gonna start applying to MM FDD in the Fall and if I’m lucky enough to get a position I’m scared I will not be ready. My understanding is that deals are smaller so data from Target sucks leading to a lot of data manipulation, and teams are smaller leading to very little support.

Interviewed for 5.5 hours today at a boutique IB today. Base comp is a slight bump. 14 mos in FDD @ PwC who will make senior this CRT - love the role but want to see more of the transaction besides TBs and TB detail. Comp isn’t a huge bump but the IB seems to have a good culture. 20 people. I really am struggling. I worried about FDD golden handcuffs with limited exit ops. Please advise!!! How should I navigate this and assess it from an unbiased perspective. Thx!

Has anyone left big 4 or other PA firms tax transaction service groups for industry (or know of anyone)? What was the role and salary bump, how are annual bonuses/raises in industry, what is a typical work week (hours) like? I don’t think I can take this always on just to stay afloat life much longer. For context I am considered a high performer, am near the top of the salary band at my level and have a great supporting network at Deloitte. It’s just not worth it to have zero personal life.
