Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!

If you like the people you work with (partners, peers, direct reports, and clients all matter), it's worth it to ask for more. It's possible that you're underpaid simply because you've never fought for more. I read a great book called Getting to Yes that helped me gain confidence in my negotiating skills. If you are a hard worker and a valued member of your team, you should be able to get a salary within the range that Robert Half salary calculator yields for your firm/line of service/market.
Firms sell the dream and opportunity often. I feel that sometimes it's a pipe dream to keep you working, motivated and inspired. When the time comes for monetary compensation, responses vary. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth staying in public for the amount of hours we work, compared to salary.
145 tax in nyc
I would say this is highly dependent on location
Let's say major market. NY metro for this purpose.
I would say you need to be at least 125k. That's a high COLA area
If you enjoy public accounting but don't see opportunity at your firm, it could be time to seek a different employer. Good luck!
Nothing wrong with getting a firm offer from another firm as a negotiating chip
$125k base in NYC isn't too far off (for a big four). What are you at now?
@PwC1 I'm not a manager and I'm not in NYC
What are you being paid now?
CohnReznick. About $105k before bonus. I hear our firm is notorious for underpaying. Not sure how true.
That sounds low as an experienced manager. Would think it would be closer to 150 given location. First year managers at Pwc are close to 100.
@OP I think you should consider cutting back on your hours. Assuming the audits can still be issued, it's the easiest way to increase your hourly wages without insisting upon a pay raise or firm hopping. (Just my suggestion, obviously you've been at this longer than I have. I've noticed at my smaller firm the managers who work more aren't necessarily paid more)
It always makes me nervous to think of being a highly compensated manager/SM in public ... Makes you so susceptible to the chopping block when shit goes south 😨
Shiiiit!!! I am cheap labor. NTX tax manager range is 80-125kish. I made 103k in my third year with 1 rating. Director range is 124-230kish.
