I joined KGS in feb 2022, we recently got a mail regarding timeline of appraisal and bonus payout from the partner. My reporting manager hasn't yet reached out to me regarding goal setting, not sure if that happens here. Can you pls help me to know what all things we need to do from our end for the appraisal cycle and bonus payout? Since I'm new to this company KPMG KPMG India

BCG comp is very structured and very transparent. There’s literally an office meeting every year where they show everyone the comp for every cohort below MDP.
Base is the same for everyone in the same cohort. In other words all 2nd year Principals get the same base. Bonus %s are also standardized by cohort. All “on target” 2nd year Principals get the same % bonus. All “top box” 2nd year Principals get the same % bonus, although their % is much larger than what their “on target” peers get. If you ask your recruiter can share the specifics for your situation.
As an experienced hire you can negotiate your sign on and you can potentially negotiate what level / tenure you come in at.
You should expect no better than “target” bonus for your first year.
Most experienced hires at the PL/PR levels don’t last more than two years. Not because they’re bad but because it’s a tough uphill climb to learn a slightly different culture and way of working and to build a new network up, down, and with peers. Keep that in mind when negotiating and deciding whether or not to join.
