Yes

Yes, and it's not uncommon in non-COVID times too.

Yes!

Why did you want to change firms?

I think that’s right but I do believe that there are real cultural differences between firms — in biglaw and small law — that matter a lot in good times and even more in bad times. If OP is in a firm with a s**t culture a move may not change the vaunted “balance” but nonetheless might massively improve quality of life.

Of course.

I’ve been dating my partner for about 10 months now. We met during Covid. The sex was great in the beginning and we almost did it everyday. What worries me is that we do it barely once a week now. Work has taken a toll on both of us and we are always exhausted and lazy. We meet 2-3 times a week and are tired by the time we get to it. As a result, I get tempted when I see other girls. How do I take care of this problem?

Soo I know this has been asked a million times, but since everything changes week to week, what are others in high COVID caseload areas doing for preschool/daycare? I’m more asking out of concern for my kid’s socialization—we are lucky to be able to afford a nanny. I feel so incredibly lost.

So my husband and I decided to go back to our original plan and starting to try for a baby next month. My daughter will be 18 months old and it’s been a struggle with work and her in general with covid and no daycare or outside help. I’m down to part time hours already with the intention of her hopefully being able to go to daycare in the summer or fall. I really want to complete my family but worry about not having help with two kids. Plus I dk how long it could take to get pregnant this time

WWYD: 35 years old. Just started aggressive savings couple yrs ago (started career non profit, then mba and then paying loans off). Cautious to keep dumping money into s&p since so much I put in was during aggressive growth of last 1.5 yrs. Currently $400k in 401k (all equities, mostly US), $130k in brokerage (85% us equities, 15% intl), about to put $20k (me plus partner) in iBonds. Have $175k cash (recent bonus mostly). Need $30k for wedding soon, then keep emergency fund. So ~$100k..WWYD?

For McKinsey (or MBB generally though I applied to McK), do cover letters matter? Or more specifically, are you dinged if you don't have one? I see responses saying they aren't read. But when I applied I didn't even have a blank PDF labeled cover letter attached so idk if I'm missing some checkbox.

His family and I are not from similar backgrounds so we have our struggles so I keep a distance (more below)
