Been trying to figure out why a lot of agencies & other senior creatives are not interested in having people “of a certain age” come in at maybe a level below where they should be. For example, I’m almost 30 years in. ECD at most agencies, won all the requisite awards, led departments, could be a CCO at a smaller or “rebuilding” shop. Started/sold out of my own agency awhile back. Etc etc.. In other words I am FAR more experienced and qualified for a “just” a CD job BUT.... (Cont)

I’ve built a reputation I’m proud of @ my company. I’m underpaid for what I do (started as an intern) & recently asked for a market adjustment. Management acknowledged that I’m undervalued & plans to set me up for a promotion. It’d come with more responsibility, which doesn’t align with my goals.

Is it wise for me to remain open to a promotion just for increased pay? Or should I be transparent with management about my goals (& possibly not get the pay I’m asking for)? Or any other tips?
