I canceled my CSR and got capital one Venture X
Will let others chime in but before cancelling the card (if that’s what you decide to) call chase with that threat. They sometimes cancel the annual fee just so that you don’t leave.
They pretty much stopped waiving the fee
Downgrade to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited then sign up for the CSP. This way you can keep the points, still able to use them for Ultimate Rewards, lower annual fee, and you can be eligible to get the new sign on bonus for CSP (I think it’s 60k currently)
You right good call idk why I thought it was 2 years
I downgraded my CSR and got the Venture X. Let me know if anyone needs a referral!
You will lose the points. An alternative is to downgrade to one of their low/no annual fee cards.
Rising Star
1. Call and ask for retention offer.
2. If no retention offer, consider cashing out points using pay yourself back or transfer to a partner.
3. Burn / use all your credits.
4. Downgrade to Freedom Flex or Saphhire Preferred.
Thank you all. So the general consensus is that I should leave CSR? Not worth sticking around to it?
Rising Star
No, not unless you were sitting on a mountain of UR points or take advantage of the rental car insurance, Priority Pass Lounge access, etc. often (and don't have them through another card).
If you’re grossing enough points annually then that extra .25% over CSP actually makes a pretty big difference. Especially now that pay yourself back is a thing. IMO, Chase deciding to add PYB at the start of the pandemic more than outweighs all the ways they’ve devalued the card since then.

Why are so many leaving Chase for CO Venture X? I looked at the benefits of the new card and they seem a lot more restrictive to me than Chase. One of the benefits of CSR I love is the $300 travel credit that is automatically applied against any airfare, hotel, car, mass transit, tolls, parking - and during the pandemic, food and gas - without the restriction of buying through the app/portal.
Way lower annual fee with similar benefits, and enticing sign on bonus.
