What makes you think you get none of the salary of freelance? Typically 12-month maternity contracts pay a premium exactly because it’s a fixed term role.
Yup. Which is one of the reason I personally, don’t do freelance. If you don’t like down days or constantly searching for new gigs why would you want to apply for a job like this with an expiration date? If security is your focus wouldn’t you just look for a FT job? That way the employee rather than the employer (hopefully) decides when it’s time to go. I’d also guess that 6 months into a 12 month contract, you’re probably looking for your next gig anyway because these days it takes about 3-6 months to get hired.
