Banking!? Get out of here bruh
Qatar airlines and hope they add Qsuites for the atl-doh route. That would be 140,000 AA miles RT. You can only transfer from Marriott to AA.
TPG just did a write up on this too - https://www.google.com/amp/s/thepointsguy.com/guide/maldives-on-points-and-miles/amp/
Former ACN here A1, where’s the love 😉
Thanks C1, I’ve read through TPG’s article, but was hoping for some creative responses. AirFrance is 115k points for business class one way. Others that are similar would be helpful. But I’ll look into Qatar again
Emirates
Are you willing to do 2 stops? I was confining you to ATL-xxx-MLE which limits your options. Anything on the ME3 would be the best airline but it sounds like you are looking for the best biz class redemption option.
2 stops isn’t ideal, but not a deal breaker. ME3?
ME3 = Middle East 3 - Eithad, Emirates and Qatar. I honestly think going ATL-DOH-MLE is your best bet in terms of decent miles redemption, great biz class product and most direct routing. Maldives is a very remote location from the US and if you’re starting on the east cost going transpacific doesn’t make sense so that throws out a lot of the Asia carriers. Going through Europe is out of the way as well and potentially going to cause you to have 2+ stops and even having to switch carriers.
^^^ that + the AA bonus miles offer today is exactly my plan. 2 business class seats for 2400 total
You can also transfer AMEX to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles if you don’t want to buy AA miles.
