St Regis is probably the “best” for overall experience if you want them to feel taken care of. This depends on what they like though
- classic, old, historical? Gramercy park hotel, Algonquin, even the W at union square. Le meridian is classic (though pretty dated) by the park, but you may as well spring for the ritz or St Regis in that neighborhood
- modern, clean? The Edition (at Madison square park, not Times Square); Renaissance at MSG, or some of the Times Square ones
Algonquin rooms are trash. They’re famous for the diamond martini or margarita or whatever but rooms are no good **for the price**
Thanks EY1, they are very low maintenance and just happy to be in the city. Union square / grammercy is walking distance from where i live as well rather than keeping them uptown where the St Regis / Ritz are
I live in Stuy Town, and my parents always stay at the W union square when they come to visit. Very walkable you my apartment, easy access north or south either via Uber or by subway. The rooms are relatively large by Ny standards. The bar is decent for a round of drinks.
If it has to be Marriott and not up north like the St Regis, look at these:
The Chatwal (best Marriott property south of St Regis and Ritz in NYC)
Gramercy Park Hotel (it’s great if you get an upgrade but they’re hard to get since it’s a ‘design hotel’)
W Union Square (well located and good ol’ W)
Non-Marriott:
The Beekman is probably my favorite.
St Regis!
The peninsula is also great
The Edition for sure!
