Based on this, it sounds like they self-disclosed when corporate found out this was going on in one of their offices, closed the office, fired the people responsible and are returning the profits they made.
That sounds reasonable to me?
Anyone involved in bribery should be in prison imo.

As per DOJ , BCG declared it themselves and made a deal. So doesn’t seem like they are “caught”

So i thought mckinsey had a monopoly on shady global stuff
Turns out i was ill informed
Good work though on self disclosure that does take some guts kudos
Chief
You don’t realize how common and acceptable bribery is in developing countries. In Pakistan, it’s virtually a way of life.
It’s actually ethical of BCG to have disclosed this if they disclosed it voluntarily.
Very embarrassing it happened but as soon as we knew we disclosed, punished the relevant individuals and cooperated fully with the DoJ.
Read the HBS case study on Chiquita banana. Do you let your employees get murdered or do you as a global corporation hand over bags of cash to cartels to save their lives? I have no opinion on the above but the Chiquita case was very odd to think about.
I mean…I’d still kill for an interview there!🤣
... I would just like to understand which company operates in Africa without having to use Bribes? Foreign Companies... ?
So there’s business up for grabs in Angola huh
Embarrassing sure. But it didn’t happen in the United States. Why would the DOJ care.
I can assure you it happens a lot more than you think in questionable parts of the world where pay offs are the expected norm.
