My fiancé got approached for a Sales Executive Role at Instacart. Anyone have any insight into the company, job security, culture etc? They mentioned 100k base, 40-60% variable comp and an undisclosed equity grant. She’s already making 130k in a very secure job, so we are thinking no, but want to do our homework first.
Hedge fund or VC route?

How exactly are you a manger at 5 YoE...?
Manager in 3yrs out of UG at Deloitte!? This doesn't seem possible from a policy standpoint. Either way very impressive!
A lot of people use an MBA as an opportunity to pivot their careers - if you wanted to go industry, this might be an excellent way to get access to companies that interest you.
For the salary impact - have a look at the market data for where you are. In the US, a prestigious MBA can make a huge difference. A middling one less so. Other markets will value it differently. With 5 YOE you may also find it better to wait until you have 10 - 12 YOE and opt for an executive MBA.
5 YoE is around the avg matriculation amount at T15 MBAs though 🤔
I saw several consulting managers at cornell who did it to career switch into tech PM at a more junior level. From a career switch perspective it makes sense to take a step back in your career but for more pay. You might have to make this trade off anyways if you recruited without the MBA...so the question you should ask yourself is whether you can secure the same offer right now.
I don’t think it makes sense if you want to stay in consulting post mba even if it’s to trade up to an MBB.
A high gmat score could yield a free mba, alternatively consider some part time programs; some level of planning it out before starting could be beneficial - such as industry and expectations (rotational program, sales, BU leadership, ops etc)
