Came across a dated post on McKinsey Engagement Manager EM pay increases from associate. Keen on hearing from EMs working there. Is this post accurate in that if you were to accelerate within one year your pay is still basically associate level or does your pay actually change with position. Similarly how does bonus change?

Negotiating with EY for M/SM Tech Consulting. I have 15 years experience, skills are in demand and my interviews went extremely well. 1. What are the salary ranges for M and SM in NYC. 2. I am told it is only going to be a M now, for my own benefit-no EY network means failure at selling. Whats the highest salary I can negotiate at M. Any other tips will be handy. I have "sold" (support on sales & new roles through relationships) plus I have solid delivery experience. I really want SM 😀😀😀 EY

Mr. Goose gang
Or bark, barking at them like a dog will scare them away
I like the clarity at BCG much better.
Same role == same base pay
Better performance == better bonus (way better at senior levels)
Pay is by tenure, not role at that level. Annual raises are based on ratings. If you quickly accelerate to EM, that means you've probably had great reviews and will be a bit ahead of your cohort in compensation. There is no change in compensation just for being designated an EM though.
Never would I have expected to see my university posting here.

Ever thought OP could be a she or do consulting firms no longer provide training on diversity?
Thank Mr. Goose?
Are those salary increases accurate? Assuming top scores you receive a 30% pay increase?
Also I’ve noticed the performance bonus for McKinsey listed as up to 35K. Is this an actual ceiling or can you get a higher bonus than that?
That’s the first year associate cap. It’s completely different after that
