I myself had did it , the pay is good and you get total in-hand for ex 24L is the salary then you will get 2L par month .
Advantages
More money more savings
Remote flexible
Disadvantages
Job security depends on the company for which you are working .
Sometimes remote work gets exhausted .
May get to work in US time zone .
For more info please check out remoteindian.com and join there slack group .
It is determined based on the employees Location as well . But generally would be more than Indian salary .
Rising Star
They Can...
No issues , they can hire you as consultant or contractor , tax you need to pay of India only .
Have you seen this happen to anyone? Would they offer similar salary like what they offer a dev from usa? Or salary will be determined based on the location of the employee
Really a good opportunity and the pay will be more than what you can imagine but there will definitely be risks on its way.
Unless they have a payroll company in India and onboard you as their employee, you will miss out below benefits.
1. Medical insurance
2. Annual and other leave benefits such as sick, maternity, paternity and so on.
3. Retirement benefits such as PF
4. Gratuity
5. Job security
On top of it, most of the Indian (especially service) companies don't consider this period as an experience and hence a career gap.
I got similar opportunity to work as an independent contractor for an US company with a lump sum pay but I had to reject it for a better and stable career
