Mechanical is a bit harder on the litigation front because tech is the target/aggressor in most areas. That said, big companies with lots of physical products would likely want you if they have a steady stream of litigation. Most of the time in house you aren't going to court/arguing, but just supervising/supporting outside counsel and reporting back to the business, so it's better if you can do a bit more IP related things than just litigation.
