Hi Fishes, I have received an offer from Barclays for AVP position. But the role discussed during interview was for Tech Delivery Manager whereas the offer letter mentions it as Tech Delivery Lead. Can you guys please suggest if it is the same role or should I request recruiter to get the role updated? Moreover it would be great if any of you can shed some light on the prospects/challenges of this role based on your experiences. Barclays Barclays global service center
Off topic: I am stuck in a service based company for last 4 years in a shitty project. The work I do can be done by a 12th grader. Now i want to move out by learning something new & changing my domain. But the thing is I am not able to study because I am stuck in a comfort zone and learning new thing gives me bad anxiety. It feels like I will never learn & be forever stuck here. Pls help on how to come out of comfort zone, learn things and apply for the job. Tata Consultancy Infosys Wipro

Are you qualified to sit for the patent bar?
If the answer is no, you might be able to catch on at a firm where you can make it a bit more of your practice, but a lot of places want the patent bar.
It's possible, but it isn't as easy of a path.
You may be better suited pitching yourself to a larger firm that has practice areas there and explain how you want to help out.
It's rough to carve out a trademark or copyright practice without a lot of active clients.
NIL is new enough so maybe try to immerse yourself on it and pitch yourself as a quasi expert.
Trade secrets in firm life is tough just because of the nature of the beast. They want as few people in the know as possible. I'm at a Fortune 500 company and I'm just allowed to know as much as I need to know to answer questions and nothing more.
Now, if you want to do litigation of any or all of this nothing much matters, they may want this or that degree but usually it's just gravy.
IP is a hard area to get into if you don't have a science background and aren't eligible for the patent bar. You might be able to get into IP lit or licensing but your best chance would probably be to work at a general practice firm with an IP group and try and get some work with the IP group.
