Go to the luxury watches bowl. People ask this all the time, you’ll find the answers you’re looking for
1) Walk into store. 2) Get ignored or laughed at. 3) Go home.
I also found that to be the general rule or you could pay a premium for grey market watches. If you know you want a Rolex it’s probably worth it to pop into stores as often as possible and see if you can get on a waitlist or just get lucky. For what it’s worth my watch shopping “process” took like 2 years and i completely changed my taste in watches over that time. I grew up reading and watching James Bond so i wanted a professional Rolex model and I had the chance to buy a Milgauss randomly when i visited an international store but decided to wait. I wasn’t in love with the color so i passed. Regretted it a lot at first but kept looking around. Ended up buying the new sea master because I liked the more sporty look and the specs/warranty were almost identical to Rolex. Now that i realize I’m the only one who cares about the watch i wear, I’ll probably look at JLC or Breguet if i ever buy another watch (though i wouldn’t be surprised if that changes too). I would just keep an open mind because even if you’re dead set on a Rolex you might find something just as good by the time you’re off the waiting list
