Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I like you OP.
I do think many of us went to b school w some cool McKinsey people and some insufferable ones. The latter really left impressions
D1 cultures vary quite a bit across firms and your work is pretty different from that of McKinsey.
There’s no need to simplify to the argument “they’re all the same” because it’s not true in recruiting, hiring, performance management, or training.
In no particular order:
1. Normal to hate the top firm
2. Rejected by McK
3. Elitist attitude (once worked with an EM who yelled at his wedding planner for wasting his time and told them how much his time was worth according to hourly cost to clients)
4. Controversy, e.g., opioid crisis, job elimination
5. Many McK alumni hate McK. Could be how invasive work was in real life, realize how some work is fluff, tired of doing corporate bidding, didn’t enjoy responsibility in eliminating jobs / livelihood of real people
Google the opioid crisis OP
I’m assuming you meant me, even though you said McK1. I’m aware we have many scandals, which are much more publicized than those of most other companies. I’m also not defending the work we did in those cases. You’re also missing the point. But regardless, I’m not here to argue with you, my comment wasn’t directed at you, and I don’t even work at McKinsey anymore.
Even I lowkey hate McK and they literally feed my kids

What if you are a McKinsey consultant that is of Indian ethnicity and converted into Judaism and is now Jewish? How do we share positive vibes for them?

It’s ok OP - nobody’s perfect
It's the elitist attitude for me. I spoke to a McKinsey recruiter a few times and the person was honestly like a character. My second encounter was with a project team that I had to work with and not surprised.
Ironically, my McKinsey recruiting experience was the best. Really lovely people. My first round at BCG was a with a Principal in the NY office who was the most insufferable prig I’ve ever had the misfortune of meeting. Alas, and somewhat ironically, BCG was where I got an offer. Now I’m at a Tier 2 and happy as a clam.
It’s good work … just not executable.
It’s just the largest name so it’s the one normal people know.
Like with all firms there’s good and bad projects and people.

Stick with the Indian positivity. This isn't the hill to die on.
I thought this was a parody of this administration and loled
But then I read the comments and now I’m not sure 😂
Cause green is a better color.
I’m ambivalent and honestly don’t spend anytime thinking about

Considering that ~80% of fentanyl addicts started with an opioid prescription, the "turbocharging" of opioids by Purdue Pharma at the recommendation of McKinsey is literally responsible for the majority of people you see in LA or Seattle hunched over and dying on the street in the homeless encampments
That's not so great, is it?
