Does anyone know what their intent is with these scams? How exactly do they scam people? I see them all the time but never move forward with the job applications
Ah ok. I was thinking the risk was giving them your banking info thinking it’s for direct deposit. I guess the entire process is the scam
Wondering the same. A girl almost got scammed like that. Will link the LinkedIn post if I find it!
What’s the name of the company that they use?
Aaahhh yikes! I've had 2 Indian recruiters call me from recruiting companies that look legit, they're on LinkedIn, working for CRYSTAL EQUATION and US TECH SOLUTIONS. Are they not real????
Sometimes people will pretend to be real companies to scam people,
(For example: John Doe from Google is looking to hire! Please send an email to **random email** - or something along those lines)
Many times they will ask you to email or download chat apps and they will never communicate by phone, even if they have a phone number on the email signature
Some even go as far as to make fake websites to seem more “legit”, I would recommend to find the real company’s phone number or email to ask if the person you’re chatting with actually works there.
Make sure to NEVER give out any personal information at any time, even phone numbers and emails
(if you don’t mind making a “disposable” email or just use an email you don’t care about too much, I would recommend doing that and using it to apply for any jobs you’re not sure of)
When I’m not sure if a job posting is real, I always just use my last Initial (ex: Jane D.) and I always disclose that I can provide my contact information upon request
Also, if using Indeed or Linkedin, use their resumes instead of your own, it’s sad to say that they also are susceptible to fake job posts, so if you happen to come across one, report it
Be careful, stay safe and good luck!
