Can we get hotel and luxury property managers in this post? I want to know what someone can do or tips to get into hotels or luxury buildings? Doing Porter work. It seems almost impossible at this point and I am only working per diem at a luxury property but its not consistent. I am in NYC by the way.

NYC is extremely competitive for luxury properties, so don’t take the slow traction personally. Consistency often comes from networking—build relationships with building managers, concierges, and supers, and let them know you’re open to full-time or on-call shifts. Also, highlight reliability and customer service on your resume—those matter just as much as experience in luxury settings.

I have a good relationship with the super and property manager of the building I’m in now. But as far as getting anything solid. It’s wild out here.

Agreed. It’s super competitive and those who have these jobs literally keep them for decades. Open positions there are few and far between. Maybe try getting a porter job in the kitchen specifically, they tend to have higher turnover. Eventually you could transfer to hotel porter
